Submit Your Idea for the Well-Being of the Ülemiste City Community
Once again, you can submit your idea to the participatory budget of Ülemiste City to support its development. The submitted idea can be a physical object, event, art project, etc., which supports the community’s well-being and can be used by the whole Ülemiste City community.
The idea collection will take place from January 6 to February 28.
All members of the Ülemiste City community (employers, employees, students) can submit their ideas here. Implementing the idea should not cost over €14,000 and it must be feasible to complete it within the year 2025.
“Last year, we received a lot of good ideas from the community members, and partially implemented some other ideas alongside the winning idea. I invite everyone to submit their ideas, because there is a high probability that they will be implemented. If you don’t come up with a good idea right away, I recommend discussing with your team what you feel is missing in the area and presenting a joint idea,” said Mainor Ülemiste AS board member Sten Pärnits.
Last year, these ideas received the most votes (the first one won the most votes):
- Installation of vertical greenery on the walls of various buildings with the aim of making the urban space greener and more beautiful
- Establishing a community garden, where different berry bushes and fruit trees would grow and where it would be nice to take a walk
- More outdoor work areas with desks and charging facilities
- Planting trees instead of some parking spaces in the K-parking lot to beautify the urban space and reduce the occurrence of heat islands
- Organizing outdoor cinema sessions during the summer months
Vertical greenery was planted for the Suur-Sõjamäe 12a parking garage, Virginia creeper plants were added there to grow up along the facade of the building. In addition, other proposals were partially considered in the campus development. For example, berry bushes were planted near the school complex, and crab apple trees and bushes were planted between the parking spaces in the new parking lot. New outdoor work areas were also created by Health Centre 2.
Adding photos, videos, references, or other illustrative materials to support your idea would be good. The submitted projects are evaluated for originality of ideas, impact on mobility and urban space, and promotion of cooperation. The person presenting the idea will be contacted to clarify the details if necessary. Eligible ideas will be put to the vote in April.
One of the goals of the community fund, which was launched at the beginning of 2024, is to involve community members in contributing to the development of the campus. In addition to the inclusive budget, the community fund finances development projects, charity, and community events.
