Since September, as part of the Test City concept, an autonomous store has been opened in front of the Öpik buildings in Ülemiste City. The store is open around the clock and offers approximately 200 products.

“We are excited to announce the opening of Grab2Go’s autonomous outdoor store in collaboration with Selver, right in the heart of Ülemiste City’s innovative business district. This project provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our cutting-edge technology and jointly test how efficiently autonomous stores operate. Our goal is to make shopping even more convenient and accessible for the end consumer, while also addressing some of the biggest challenges in retail – such as labor shortages, the high costs of 24/7 service, and overall business efficiency,” said Grab2Go founder and CEO Mart Viilipus.

According to Kristi Lomp, CEO of Selver, the retail chain constantly seeks opportunities to expand its business areas and is open to testing the latest technological solutions. “This pilot project will provide us with valuable insights into the market readiness and future potential of autonomous stores. We are eagerly anticipating how customers will embrace the new solution. They will be able to visit the store at any time that suits them, allowing for quick and easy shopping,” said Kristi Lomp.

Ülemiste City’s Chief Innovation Officer, Ursel Velve, is pleased that Grab2Go and Selver are testing their autonomous store as part of the Test City concept. “A mobile store solution is a highly anticipated addition to the heart of the district, and the infrastructure here fully supports it. I believe our community of 17,000 tech enthusiasts is the perfect place to test new solutions, recruit testers, and gather feedback on the service. Selver has long been a service provider in the district, and it is very welcome that they are testing this new concept here.”

Customers can enter the store 24/7. Self-service screens in the store allow customers to browse the product selection and pay for their purchases at the payment terminal using card payment. The robotized store immediately assembles and dispenses the ordered goods quickly and conveniently. The store offers a wide variety of everyday food products – dairy products (milk, cream, kefir, cottage cheese, curd snacks, puddings), bakery products, sweets, snacks, smoothies, juices, soft drinks, water, as well as salads, desserts, ready-made meals from Selver’s Kitchen, and much more. The store’s assortment is regularly reviewed and updated based on customer feedback.
